Dedicated to William Loh
Story: “This song "Vision" is dedicated to my best friend Will. His mother passed away from cancer about a year ago. During the year and a half that his mother was fighting cancer, it was disheartening to see my best friend who is known for bringing joy in many people's lives go through such a deep and painful hardship. In the midst of that season, I remember him telling me something along the lines of "how can I have joy?" when he was going through something so seemingly hopeless. He knew that God can do impossible things, but it was so hard for him to see what good can come or to step into the next day.
When writing this song, I was inspired by the hymn "Be Thou My Vision"... In one sense, it's a great song of worship; but I also see it as a plea to God asking him or even demanding him: "Please be my vision". In darkest moments or when you can't seem to see any hope in the future, God is the only one that can help us see light. Even at the end of it all, even when life brings the bad news, we still give God our laments and our praise and we ask God to help us gain strength again and for God to shed light again.”
